• Have you considered rescuing an older dog instead of getting a puppy?
• What breed of dog best suits your lifestyle and living situation?
• What size of dog best fits you and your living situation?
• Do you or your family members have allergies?
• What happens to the puppy if your child is allergic after you bring it home?
• How much time are you going to be able to spend exercising your dog?
• Do you possess the financial means to care for a dog?
• Are you willing to commit to a dog for its lifetime?
• Does your partner / family also want a dog?
• Does your condo / apartment allow dogs?
• Does your lifestyle allow you time to properly care for a puppy?
• Do you travel? Where is the puppy going to go if you do?
• Do you have the time required to potty train a puppy?

You should be able to answer YES to all of these.

• Is the facility clean?
• Does the facility smell clean?
• Are references available upon request?
• Have you been asked questions to see if you are compatible with the dog?
• Do the puppies have a good disposition?
• Do they appear to be in good health?
• Are their health records available for you to view?
• Is there a Health Guarantee and do you you understand it?
• Does the puppy have a microchip implant for identification?
• Is the puppy fed a premium dog food?
• Do you have a good feeling?

Never buy a dog from someone that requests to meet you anywhere.
Seeing how they live and how they keep their house will tell you a lot about them.

Do you feel pressured to buy the puppy?
If you feel like you are being pressured to buy a puppy when you are not ready to you should say no.

Be wary of people claiming to be adopting dogs from other Countries.
If you cannot see the puppy and talk to a real person about the puppy chances are there is no puppy.

Never buy a dog that has not been vaccinated.
If the puppy has not been vaccinated just imagine what else could be wrong.

Do not buy a puppy under 8 weeks of age.
A puppy develops social skills that are important for its future development before it is 8 weeks old.
